Lolita shout out #5 and #6

Hi guys. As said before I am ever so sorry for not being able to make and update last Thursday as I was lying in bed with the flue and a pretty high fever. SO I just couldn’t deal with making my weekly update, so to make up for my lack of update I’ll be posting a doubled Lolita shout out this time. I fell really bad not being able to keep my promise with the weekly update but the cold weather here in Denmark sort of keeps on making me sick with either a cold or the flue. We’ve gotten more snow here even though it was begging to look like we were finally going to get rid of it, and maybe see some grassy areas and spring flowers… but alas. But to talk about something else, what is new on the Lolita market?

Well Btssb just posted a small list of items that’ll be appearing on their web store soon. And one of the things I noticed was this gingham dress. It’s very simple and I can’t help but feel that it’s very old school compared to what Btssb normally show us. It’s not meant as a bad thing but more as “comeback” perhaps of the good old “old school” Lolita where everything seem less complicated and OTT. When I think of Btssb I don’t see this kind of dress before me, but it’s begging to look a lot like they are starting to go back to their basic roots when it comes to the design of their clothes and in my opinion it’s great. I don’t it! We really need more down toned lolis because simple can also be as very elegant and beautiful as any OTT. And I believe that it’s because classic is starting to look like it’s going to become the new “OTT sweet” in the Lolita fashion world. Sweet is still there but I just keep seeing more and more pictures on tumbler and Daily_lolita if girls dress in classic.

And when we look at the classic section of the Lolita world (which is the one that I know most of) Victorian maiden are right now reserving this lovely collection of dresses, skirts, and accessories. And when I look at it I can’t help but see this as a very girly classic or a very adorable country Lolita, with her little basket, braided hair in the middle of a field filled with flowers. Again a very simple dress if you don’t look at the pattern of the fabric. The entire cut is so simple and still holds somewhat of a cute edge to it but it’s very subtle. The OP itself is really beautiful and you get many choices from this particular line and I would suggest you looked into it for a chance to get one of the different things they offer.

Rococo Bouquet Yoke Dress (Pink)

And another brand which I love for its somewhat simple designs is Juliett et Justine. I recently looked at their web store again, after a long break from it, and found this lovely dress. It really reminds me of a young French school student and the cut is to die for. I really love simple clothing and dresses so this has been added to my list over dresses I wish to own. Not only is the fabric gorgeous but the code of arms patch is really well made and just stunning. I love that it’s not overly loads with frills, bows or anything sweet or classic elements, it really looks like a genuine school girl uniform and I do have a weakness for that.

Lolita shout out #5

Spring is just around the corner and things are really starting to change a lot. The flowers starts blooming again, spreading their vivid colors everywhere, trees are beginning to sprout new fresh light green leafs. The air is getting fresher and the wind is starting to get more and warmer by the day. Indeed spring is over us and gawd I love spring. It’s that time of the year where you suddenly start feeling alive and refreshed. And I should say that it’s about now we should start looking at a more summery collection of clothes. I’m pretty sure Velveteen, although they look amazing , will be way to warm for the upcoming summer. And again I will post something from I.N. They just released this new dress since I would say Is perfect, not only for valentine’s day but for the spring/summer wardrobe. It’s a very girlish style dress compared to what they normally sell and I do love it in pink, whit the very antique looking rose pattern. It somewhat reminds me of a 1950’s dress in some way but I can’t really define why. It’s a cute summer dress and it’s not at all overwhelming to look at in any way plus the neck tie really adds a more summery look for the dress. You can buy the dress in blue, beige or pink and it has a skirt which matches. Both come in either long (68 cm) or short (55 cm). If I could I would defiantly by the dress in pink, which is weird since I am not much of a girl for wearing pink-ish stuff. But it’s not the same kind of pink that you would find on a sweet dress, it’s more of a dusty pink which gives it a more classic and antique look. You can also by the matching headdress, Headdress with a Lace Motif, for it. It’s beautiful enough and very classy but the rosette on the side of the head is very big and may look a bit overwhelming if you are that kind of girl who has a rather small head. I like the little detail with the little bow in the back and you can get it in beige, chocolate or white.

Also there was a Lucky Pack Outlet here on the 8th this month from Innocent World, I have no idea what it contained since they are very good at keeping their cards close to the body, unlike baby where you normally see what’s included in the L.P’s. I tried to get some more information on the L.P but alas it was already sold out. I had only been up on their website for ONE day. I guess that Classic Lolita is beginning to become the new OTT sweet this year. But talking about lucky packs, Valentine’s Day is soon upon us and baby has decided to release not one but three L.P’s for this particular day. You can get either two coordination packs or an accessories pack. And as like most L.P’s they look pretty expensive. The most expensive one cost around $330 + tax (about 1800DDK) and it’s an all off white/white set, but compared to what you might end up paying for each individual item, it’s pretty cheap getting it all in one set. I would love to have since I really like the dress, bolero and socks but I don’t really fancy the scrunchie so much and the mobile charm is really adorable. I’m not so sure in the shirt… Sure it looks nice but I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to get my bust nor arms into it although the dress looks like it might actually fit a bust 97cm and waist 86cm. The bags are cute but I’m not really a totebag girl. I’ve wanted to try a L.P since I first heard about them but I’ve been sort of scared of in buying one. First it sounds pretty expensive for a lucky pack, around $200-$300 WOW! And second I can’t choose something that I might fit and there’s hardly any L.P’s out there that is lovely size friendly. But it really is a gamble to by one of these, you can’t decide what colours you what, what items you want and the size of it all, but if you feel lucky and know you’ll be able to fit into almost whatever you get in one of these packs, and you have money to buy one, you should try it. Brands are slowly starting to make L.P’s that can fit girls of my size, but there’s still a long way, but what do you think? Do you think it’s fair to see what you get in your lucky packs or should it remain a secret till you buy it and open the packed?

Lolita shout out #4

Tired of feeling like a lolita who can’t find anything that fits you because you’re a plus size lolita? Well frown no more girls! There is still light at the end of the tunnel, even though it sometimes might seem like there isn’t, and it’s all thanks to maxicimam. They started a new collection of Lolita clothes for bigger girls called “lovely size”. I find the name very cute and less insulting as for an example the common usage of the phrase “plus size”. Suddenly one doesn’t feel like a pilgrim in an unholy land of thin girls because now we can also join in on the frilly butt party. I will say that many of maxicimam’s stuff is perhaps a little too OTT sweet for me as I wear EGL and Classic. But if you are a sweet Lolita its way easier for you to be able to find something that has shirring in it compared to Classic, gothic and EGL which is more focused on a cleaner design and cut. But If we have to look at sweet dresses I found this under maxicimam’s “Lovely size” category and I must say it’s actually pretty cute. Very decent dress and not overly decorated like many sweet dresses so I would say it’s a good starter dress if your thinking about getting into Lolita, and build your wardrobe up from there. I will say that I do not recommend this dress for a girl with a big bossom as this will draw unwanted attention ip there, this would fit a girl who is a little bottom heavy where you remove focus from the bottom area up to the bossom.

In the other section there is also this jacket. The jacket itself isn’t bad. It’s very simple and not over decorated so it’s actually a jacket that can be used for many genres, just add a few bows or something else to make it fit into you specific Lolita style. Although I must say that the picture isn’t flattering the dress. It’s making It look very bulgy and it makes it look chubbier than what it might actually look like in real life. It’s a very cute jacket and I love that it’s so simple, yes I love it when things are simple, maybe that’s why I’m not a overly huge fan of OTT sweet. I would much rather have a simple looking dress than a dress filled with bows, cute prints and frills. This would fit a girl with curves good as it tries to follow the natural waistline.

So in conclusion to my entry this time, don’t frown darlings if you are a lovely size girl. There are many options for you out there; you just have to keep a good eye out for them.
